EVENT DAY SCHEDULE
8:00 a.m. Check-In
8:40 a.m. Opening Ceremony
9:00 a.m. Walk Starts!
The Walk will take place rain or shine.
The Walk will begin at 9:00 a.m. following the opening ceremony and ribbon cutting.
*** NEW ROUTE includes a 5k option.
When you arrive, head to the Check-In Tent sponsored by Clark to fill out and turn in your Walker Collection Envelope.
The Walker Collection Envelope should include:
- Donations collected to date
- Your Team Name and Team Captain's name
- Amount in envelope
- A completed Walker Donation Information Form (print this prior to walk day from the online participant center) to confirm all your offline donations (if applicable).
Please remember, each walker should turn in their own envelope. If you have not registered online, please complete your contact information. Keep in mind, home address is preferred in order to expedite the delivery of JDRF post-walk information.
- Checks should be made payable to JDRF
- Credit cards will be accepted at the Check-In Tent
- If you have a large amount of cash or coins to turn in on Walk Day, we ask that you convert it to a personal check and make a note in the memo section that cash has been converted to check.
There will be an Express Check-In area for those Walkers and Team Captains who have pre-registered, raised all of their funds online, and don’t have donations to turn in on Walk Day.
If you have raised more than $1,000, you are a V1P and there will be a designated Check-In line just for you. This is our way of making Walk Day a little bit easier for our top fundraisers! You will also pick up your V1P lanyard here for exclusive access to the V1P Tent.
At Check-In, walkers that have raised $100 will receive a ticket to be redeemed at the T-shirt Tent. Team t-shirts can be turned in until 8:40am at the T-shirt Tent for entry in the design contest. The winner will be announced at the opening ceremony.

Bandanas for Walkers with T1D: JDRF is motivated by the millions of children and adults challenged by T1D every single day. We celebrate your strength and the sense of hope and empowerment that Walk Day brings. If you have T1D and would like a special blue bandana, let our volunteers at the JDRF Tent know! Please note: These bandanas are complimentary and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Stop by in the morning to get a temporary tattoo or take a photo complete with fun props, and then post it on your favorite social media site using #JDRFOneWalk #DC. Plus a few surprise activities this year!

Stop by the New Family JDRF Welcome Tent to learn more about JDRF, our research efforts, and how you can become involved locally. *If this is your first Walk, be sure to pick up your New Family Bag!

Food and Beverage
Snacks will be served post walk from 10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. and includes granola bars, Herr’s chips, Essentia water AND Jimmy John’s mini subs. While we provide as many refreshments as possible, thanks to our in-kind sponsors, please understand that we have a limited quantity of food and beverage available and we are not able to meet all dietary needs. We ask that you please come prepared in order to enjoy the activities of the day.
Team Tent Reminder
All Teams that have raised $10,000 or more are eligible for a Team Tent. All teams who are eligible will be notified by email on Tuesday, May 30th.
To thank you for your commitment and hard work, we offer some great prizes as rewards for raising more than $250. You will receive an email with more details within 10 weeks after the DC Walk. Note: Want even more of your money raised to go to T1D research? Log into your Walker Participant Center, under “Edit Profile,” select “I do not want a prize” and 100% of your donation will go to JDRF. The deadline for turning in Walk money to JDRF for fundraising rewards eligibility is Friday, June 30, 2017. Walker Collection Envelopes will be available at the check-in area to send in with post-Walk funds.
Donors who have written a check to JDRF for $250+ will receive a letter of receipt from JDRF.
The walk site is located at the corner of 15th St, NW and Independence Ave, SW.
Metro is suggested. The nearest metro station is Smithsonian (Blue and Orange lines). PLEASE BE SURE YOU LEAVE AMPLE TIME FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. Our site is about a 10-20 minute walk from the Metro. Parking around the National Mall is extremely limited. The easiest drop off location is along Independence Ave. Nearest parking areas include: Tidal Basin Parking Lot located on Independence Avenue, Constitution Ave. and the Ronald Reagan Building (access to garage is available via 14th St. (north and south) and 13 ½ Street (off Pennsylvania Ave.)
Service animals and pets on leashes are permitted.
Balloons are not permitted on the National Mall.
