- From the North and South
Exit 53 from I-95. Roadway becomes I-395. Take the first exit on the right (Russell Street). Make a right at the bottom of the ramp onto Lee Street then a right into the entrance of Lot C.
- From Downtown
Take Howard Street South; make a right turn at Conway Street (near Camden Warehouse). Proceed down the service road to the entrance to Lot C.
Take Russell Street South and make a left at Lee Street; then turn Right onto the Service Road. Lot C is on the right.

The opening ceremony begins at 8:40 a.m. and the Walk will begin at 9:00 a.m.
Following the ribbon cutting, less than a 2-mile route begins in Lot B and loops around Camden Yards Stadium and out on Paca Street, around University Square Park, and down Greene Street back to the Stadium parking lots. On the Walk route, Staff, Emergency Personnel, and Volunteers will be stationed should you need any assistance.
For those who do not wish to Walk the entire route, please circle back around Camden Yards Stadium, back to the Start/Finish Line.

When you arrive, please head to the M&T Bank Check-In Tent to fill out and turn in your Walker Collection Envelope.
The Walker Collection Envelope should include:
- Donations collected to date
- Your Team Name and Team Captain's name
- Amount in envelope
- A completed Walker Donation Information Form (print this prior to walk day from the online participant center) to confirm all your offline donations (if applicable).
Please remember, each walker should turn in their own envelope. If you have not registered online, please complete your contact information. Keep in mind, home address is preferred in order to expedite the delivery of JDRF post-walk information.
- Checks should be made payable to JDRF
- Credit cards will be accepted at the M&T Bank Check-In Tent
- If you have a large amount of cash or coins to turn in on Walk Day, we ask that you convert it to a personal check and make a note in the memo section that cash has been converted to check.
If you are registered with money to turn in or unregistered with money to turn in, you will be shown to a check-in table to complete Walker Collection Envelope prior to going to Check-In Tent. If you are unregistered with no money to turn in (same as above)
There will be an Express Check-In area for those Walkers and Team Captains who have pre-registered, raised all of their funds online, and don’t have donations to turn in on Walk Day.
If you have raised more than $1,000, you are a V1P and there will be a designated Check-In line just for you. This is our way of making Walk Day a little bit easier for our top fundraisers! You will also pick up your V1P lanyard and hat here for exclusive access to the V1P Tent.

In the middle of the Walk Site, we will have volunteers and staff to help you with any of your Walk Day needs. Please visit the Ask Me Tent to also receive your Team sign!
At Check-In, walkers that have raised $100 will receive a ticket to be redeemed at the Hamilton Bank T-shirt Tent. Team t-shirts can be turned in at the T-shirt Tent for entry in the design contest!
BANDANAS FOR T1D WALKERS
JDRF is motivated by the millions of children and adults challenged by T1D every single day. We celebrate your strength and the sense of hope and empowerment that Walk Day brings. If you have T1D and would like a special orange and blue bandana, let our volunteers at Check-in or the Family Team Tent know! Please note: These bandanas are complimentary and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Snacks will be served post walk from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m at the BB&T Snack Tent. While we provide as many refreshments as possible, thanks to our in-kind sponsors, please understand that we have a limited quantity of food and beverage available and we are not able to meet all dietary needs. We ask that you please come prepared in order to enjoy the activities of the day.
Join JDRF Volunteers at the New Family Welcome Tent to learn more about JDRF, our research efforts, and how you can become involved locally. If this is your first Walk, be sure to pick up your New Family Drawstring Backpack here!
Teams that have raised $10,000 or more by Friday, April 6th are eligible for a Team Tent. Thank you for all your efforts to reach this fundraising level! Deadline must be adhered to for us to order tents. This includes a 10X10 tent, a table, 2 chairs, table cloth, water, and team sign. All teams who are eligible will be notified by email.
Stop by the Kings Dominion Activities Tent in the morning to get a temporary tattoo, get your hair temporarily dyed or take a photo complete with fun props, and then post it on your favorite social media site using #JDRFOneWalk #MD. After the Walk, stop by to play games and get your favorite balloon animal!

Note: Want even more of your money raised to go to T1D research? Log into your Walker Participant Center, under “Edit Profile,” select “I do not want a prize” and 100% of your donation will go to JDRF. The deadline for turning in Walk money to JDRF for fundraising rewards eligibility is Monday, June 12th, 2017. Walker Collection Envelopes will be available at the check-in area to send in with post-Walk funds.
Donors who have written a check to JDRF for $250+ will receive a letter of receipt from JDRF.
Parking, sponsored by Stratus Solutions, is FREE in Lot C (off of Lee Street) and there will be parking attendants there to help. For those that have earned a V1P pass, you will have preferred parking in Lot B.

IS THERE A REGISTRATION FEE?
No, there is no registration fee to participate in Walk. All participants are encouraged to support the One Walk through their own personal fundraising efforts or to make a personal donation.
DO I NEED TO REGISTER AHEAD OF TIME?
1. For insurance purposes, everyone needs to be registered.
2. Registering online provides you and your team the latest updates on JDRF and One Walk news and information, and you'll gain access to great fundraising resources.
3. Pre-registered. Making the check in process much quicker!
4. It allows us to plan ahead for refreshments, t-shirts, and volunteer staffing.
5. You can register on the day of the Walk, but we strongly encourage anybody interested in the Walk to register earlier online.
6. Register, even if you’re a virtual walker and cannot attend. It’s the easiest way to make a financial contribution on line. You can utilize the tools on the site to send out emails to help your team raise even more money!
7. JDRF does not sell the list of names/emails to other organizations.
I REGISTERED LAST YEAR; DO I NEED TO REGISTER AGAIN THIS YEAR?
Yes, all participants need to register every year. For your convenience, you can log in with the username and password you created last year. If you have forgotten your user information, simply click on the “Forgot User Name” or “Forgot Password” button and you will receive an email with login assistance. Simply click on re-create team!
CAN I PARTICIPATE IN THE JDRF ONE WALK IF I AM NOT ON A TEAM?
Absolutely. Many people choose to fundraise and walk individually though participating with friends, family, or co-workers multiplies the fun and brings everyone together for a great cause.
HOW CAN I JOIN A TEAM?
You can join an existing team when you register online or start a new team by registering as a team captain.
ARE TEAMS ONLY FAMILIES?
The majority are families, but there are no limitations to what makes up a Team. Corporate, Sorority, School, Church, Organization, Group of Friends, etc. The JDRF One Walk is a Fundraiser, and we encourage you to work as a team, with everyone helping to the raise the money to continue the funding the research to find a cure for T1D.
IS THERE A FUNDRAISING MINIMUM?
Although there is no fundraising minimum, we encourage walkers and teams to show their support by fundraising. The Walk is the celebration of the efforts of walkers and teams who have fundraised. For it is those dollars that go towards research helping those with T1D and to ultimately find a cure.
WHO SHOULD CHECKS BE MADE PAYABLE TO?
All checks should be made payable to “JDRF.”
There are two things you can do with checks: 1. On the registration site there’s a “Walker Donation Information form” which you fill in the checks and mail them to the DC Chapter office. This can be downloaded and emailed or handed to folks if they prefer to send the check in themselves. Or given to your team captain. 2. Bring them to Check-In at the Walk (try to get them mailed in ahead of time, if possible).
CAN PEOPLE DONATE ON LINE?
Yes, when you register! You will be able to utilize the same registration site / tool to send out emails to friends and family asking them to join your team and/or make a donation. The email will include a link for them to make a donation right away. Best of all, you’ll see your fundraising efforts moving upward to your goal. (…and YES, you can increase you goal as often as you want!)
DO YOU ACCEPT EMPLOYER MATCHING DONATIONS?
Yes. Matching gift programs are an effective way to multiply the amount of money you raise for JDRF. Contact your human resources department for instructions on how to receive a matching gift from your employer. In most cases, all you need to do is fill out a simple form for JDRF to receive even more funds to help us cure, better treat, and prevent T1D.
ARE DONATIONS TAX-DEDUCTIBLE?
Donations to JDRF are tax-deductible.
HOW DO I GET A JDRF WALK T-SHIRT?
Participants that have registered and turned in donations of $100 or more on or before Walk day will receive an official One Walk t-shirt.
CAN I STILL FUNDRAISE IF I CAN'T ATTEND THE WALK?
Absolutely! We have a registration option that allows you to sign up as a “Virtual Walker.” This means you can't walk in person, but you will do a fundraising campaign and virtually “walk” to support JDRF. This is a great way for family, coworkers and friends who live outside the area or are unable to attend, to easily contribute to your fundraising efforts. You can form a virtual team and extend your fundraising to family, friends and co-workers.
HOW ARE THE FUNDS I RAISE FOR THE WALK USED?
JDRF is the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research. Approximately 80 percent of your fundraising efforts goes directly to fund T1D research and research-related education.
HOW DO I FUNDRAISE?
The options really are unlimited. Every year we hear of some very creative ways. The team coaches have suggestions as well. Many restaurants offer fundraising options. The Participant page offers the ability to send emails which include a link for people to click and make a donation. Others send letters. Garage sales; making products and selling; asking your company to sponsor your team! These are just a few. Ask, ask, ask, and don’t be afraid of the word no. Finding a cure for T1D is big goal and we need everyone to give it their all.
CAN I FUNDRAISE AFTER WALK DAY?
Yes! Funds submitted up to June 30, 2017 are accepted towards your team’s goal. This is great as many people and business like to make the last effort for tax deductions! Of course, funds raised after that will help us to cure, treat, and prevent T1D.
WHAT KIND OF SUPPORT WILL I RECEIVE?
JDRF chapter staff and a large group of volunteers are available to help you every step of the way. We can provide helpful tools and resources to assist you with your fundraising as well as one-on-one assistance and guidance as needed. Team Coaches are available for Team Captains all through the process.
ARE THERE ANY INCENTIVES TO REACH CERTAIN GOALS?
Yes, there are several!
1. Every team member can participate in the Gift Incentive catalog, or opt out.
2. By raising $100 and registering, an individual can get a JDRF One Walk t-shirt.
3. Reaching the $1,000 level, an individual is recognized as a V1P at the JDRF One Walk! Each person who raised $1,000 not only receive exclusive access to our V1P tent and goodies, but also they receive a JDRF V1P Hat and Badge to wear proudly on Walk Day.
4. By reaching a minimum of $5,000 the team can have a table and chairs. Great meeting place for everyone.

WALK DAY WHAT SHOULD I BRING ON?
Bring any completed walker donation form and walker collection envelope containing any checks and cash donations. We encourage you not to hold on to donations but to mail them to your JDRF Chapter as you collect them.

WHAT DO I WEAR?
The Walk is outdoors. Dress casually with comfortable shoes to complete the distance of your Walk. Make sure to check weather reports on the day of your Walk to dress appropriately. Our event is on a grassy area. Rain or shine we have the Walk!
CAN I BRING A STROLLER OR WAGON FOR THE KIDS?
Absolutely! We discourage skateboards and kid’s scooters as there is a very large group of people and we don’t want anyone to get hurt.
CAN WE BRING FOOD FOR OUR TEAM?
Yes, many Teams bring a breakfast and/or lunch for their team. JDRF will provide snacks after the Walk.
IS THERE A FIRST AID FACILITY?
Yes, emergency personnel will be located at the Walk site.
CAN I BRING OUR DOG?
Bringing a dog is allowed, but discouraged as the Walk can be loud and crowded at times.
