Dig for a Cure at the Walk this year! Try your chance at prospecting for diamonds at the 2013 Rock the Park Diamond Dig! Over 300 stones will be hidden in our version of a diamond mine (a sand pit). Purchasers will remove 1 (one) scoop of sand from the pit and look for stones. If you find one, return it to the Duncan & Boyd Diamond Dig Ladies. At the end of the event, those who find the three largest diamonds will win a gift certificate to Duncan & Boyd Jewelers. Each opportunity to win is $5 but online pre-purchasers receive 3 for $10, if purchased by September 3, 2013. Prizes include: Certificate can not be exchanged for cash and must be used in store by September 7, 2014.
Ron Boyd, 2013 Walk Chairman, has been here since JDRF arrived in Amarillo, and he has made a personal commitment to ending this devastating disease. Join Ron, and the many others when we get to say someday, that we cured type 1 diabetes! |
The JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes is a fun, happy, healthy, and effective way to show your support for all those living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) and to raise funds for JDRF—the leading global organization focused on T1D research.
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas loses the ability to produce insulin—a hormone essential to digestion. More than 15,000 children and 15,000 adults in the United States receive a diagnosis each year. That’s why JDRF holds more than 200 Walks nationally every year that connect walkers to an extensive community of families, volunteers, and donors who are committed to fighting this serious disease.
The JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes has raised $1 billion to date. Your generosity helps us continue to accelerate progress in T1D research and keep people with T1D healthy while we work towards a cure.
September 7th is a day we will make big things happen! Come to the park and join us in supporting research to improve the lives of all the families in our area affected by type 1 diabetes. We promise to never give up!
Thank you for your support of the JDRF Walk!
