Our team is walking to create a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D).
When you have T1D, your pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to turning food into energy. This means you must constantly monitor your blood-sugar level, administer insulin, and carefully balance these insulin doses with your eating and activity just to stay alive.
With T1D there are no days off and there is no cure. But there is hope.
By donating or joining our JDRF One Walk® team today, you’ll support research for life-changing breakthroughs to make it safer and easier to live with T1D, until we find a cure.
One of our St. John's family members and active EYC member, Tyler West was diagnosed in August. We want to show him and his family our love and help find a cure! Here is a message from Tyler's mom Kristi:
Life can certainly turn upside down in the span of hours, throw you curve balls you never expect, and force you to find strength you never knew existed.
Tyler was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on Thursday.
Tyler is amazingly unphased. He said, "Mom, it could be so much worse" which is a testament to his strength and determination to face this set back head on.
What I do ask is that your pray for Tyler, especially as he transitions back to school. Who knew he is at a school with the highest population of Type 1 in the county? There's even a support group there!
And throw in some prayers for Nathan West, Ava, and myself. We will be fine, but the prayers are a nice bonus.
I hope you will consider praying, donating and walking to show our love and support! Thank you!
Your donation will count towards the team's fundraising total. In addition, please give credit to the person that asked for your support to recognize them for their efforts in creating a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D).
