Im Erin the team captain please keep reading about my story :). Now this is not my first year doing this type of walk and i figured i would start a team . I was diagnosed on July 6th 2009 with type one diabetes at the age of 11 days under being 11. Diabetes is when your body can not produce insulin on its own which is a hormone our bodies need to survive. After almost 11 years of being alive my life flipped around from no shots daily to 4-6 times a day , to never testing my blood to checking 6-8 times a day. I also had to measure carbs ( or carbohydrates) also checking for keytones to see if my body was spilling fat . I have tried into words explain how diabetes effects you life but unless you have this disease its unimaginable. My parents have been my rock along with all my friends and the rest of my family . These past 4 years i have done 2 rides with American Diabetes Association , 2 Diabetic Camps , 1 walk, and hopefully soon advocating and more. Diabetes has become apart of my life i cant take away so I'm very excited to help in anyway i can within the diabetic community .
