Once again we will be participating in the Walk to Cure Diabetes with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). JDRF's mission is to find a cure for diabetes and it's complications thru research. This year the walk is on Saturday, February 23rd, 2013 at the Mall of America.
This will be our 6th year having a walk team. We are Cole and Marina's Crew and we walk to support our son Cole and our daughter Marina who live with Type 1 (Juvenile) diabetes.
Cole was diagnosed 6 years ago at the age of 3Ĺ. Now at the age of 9, Cole is like any other kid. He loves to play with his friends, play sports, read books, go to school and summer camp. He also enjoys camping and ice fishing. In the past couple of years Cole has taken a bigger interested in helping to take care of his diabetes. He is becoming better at counting carbs and has been learning how to change the insulin in his pump. We are very proud of the young man he is becoming and it is fun to see him be so proud of himself too.
Marina was diagnosed 1 year ago at the age of 5. She is now in kindergarten and having lots of fun meeting new friends and learning lots of new stuff. Marina enjoys playing game, playing with dolls, reading, drawing and writing. She also attended diabetes camp last year and had a great time. We are also very proud of Marina. She has followed in her brothers footsteps when it comes to living with diabetes. She has a positive attitude and does not let having diabetes interfere with doing the things she loves.
Type 1, or juvenile, diabetes is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, a large and growing percentage of them are children. †Managing Type 1 diabetes is a challenge. Cole and Marina both wear insulin pumps and continuous glucose sensors to help control their diabetes and keep them healthy. Without JDRF, this technology would not be available. Donations to JDRF go directly to development for new and better treatment, prevention and a cure for diabetes.
If you are interested, we would love to have you join us for the walk. You can register online by clicking the join team button at the top of this page. You may also choose to donate money to the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes, but no monetary donation is required or expected to participate in the walk.
We would like to thank everyone for supporting Cole and Marina and helping to find a cure for diabetes.
We look forward to seeing you at the walk. The Clubbs Chris, Keiza, Cole & Marina 4312 Kirsten Court Eagan, MN 55123 651-252-4459 email@example.com
