Welcome to our JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes Team Page!  

We are taking steps to help JDRF achieve its goal of improving the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D) by accelerating progress on the most promising opportunities for curing, better treating, and preventing T1D. By joining our Walk Team and/or making a donation, you will be helping us to raise funds to directly support research with the greatest potential to conquer this disease.

As many of you know we began this journey with Type 1 Diabetes on September 2011 when our sweet Marie was diagnosed.  She has been so grown up with all of the challenges that she faces while livng with this chronic condition.  She typically does about 6-8 finger pricks a day and has to dose insulin through her pump everytime she eats something that has carbs in it.  This medical device has simplified her approach to live with this condition however it is still there. 

Carter was diagnosed in July of 2012 with this same condition.  He was so brave and bold because he watched his big sister live with this for almost a year so he knew just what to do.   He does 6-8 finger pricks a day and at least 4 shots a day to keep his glucose and insulin levels in range.  He has asked me, when is my diabetes going away?  I tell him at this point, never.  Wouldn't it be nice if in Carter's lifetime there is a cure and my answer to his question could change? 

We are motivated by the courage and perseverance as they both face everyday with challenges of type 1 diabetes - they are the reason we challenge ourselves to give more, to do more, to achieve more. We challenge ourselves to make a real difference in the lives of those with T1D.
