Hi everyone! It is that time of year again where we get ready to take part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes. This is our fifth year of participating in this walk since Emily was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2007. We are trying to reach $1,000 in donations again this year. As they say, every penny helps! No donation is too big or too small! Your donation could be the one that is key to finding the cure to diabetes!
Every year the JDRF Walk is one of the highlights of our winter. Em looks forward to the walk and loves to hear how much we and all the teams are raising to help fight this disease. Not only do the funds raised go towards trying to find a cure they also go towards improving technology for managing the disease. The technology out there for managing diabetes is awesome and getting cooler every day!
Em wears an insulin pump that allows her to be a normal kid and do the same stuff as every other kid. This year she attended tennis camp and took care of her diabetes for the week by herself. She marched in parades in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Kansas and had no problems! Even though her body no longer produces insulin the pump get the insulin to her that she needs to keep her going every day. The insulin pump is just one of many pieces of technology that your donations help fund.
Even though Em does a great job managing her disease with the pump the ultimate goal is a cure. For Em to not have to poke her finger 6-8 times a day, or count carbs, or give herself insulin for everything she eats, or deal with high & low blood sugars woudl be the greatest gift we could ever get. Please consider giving a donation and helping JDRF move closer to freeing Em from this disease!
Thanks!
