SAM'S STAR WALKERS!!

Dear Family & Friends:

This will be our fourth year participating in the JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes with our family team, SAM'S STAR WALKERS.  Our son, Sam, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes on July 4, 2009 at the age of 7.  Ever since that devastating day, his daily reality consists of checking his blood sugar 10-15 times day and night, counting carbs, calculating insulin doses and dealing with high and low blood sugars.  Sam gets at least 6 insulin injections every day...he needs insulin to live.

Sam continues to remain positive and strong despite his Type 1.  He enjoys 5th grade, swimming, drumming, legos and breakdancing.  He is an incredible son and a wonderful big brother to Abby and Izzy.  Sam and his sisters again had lemonade stands this past summer to raise money for the JDRF, because they want a cure for Type 1 diabetes.

And that is why we all participate in the JDRF's WALK TO CURE DIABETES on Saturday, February 23, 8:00 am at the Mall of America.  The JDRF is the worldwide nonprofit leader in funding research to treat, cure & prevent Type 1.  Walk day is a special day that gives us hope & inspiration and reminds us we are not alone.

Our goal is to support Sam in his journey & to contribute to the JDRFs efforts.  We are asking for your help by:

1.  Joining us to walk on our team, SAM'S STAR WALKERS AND/OR

2.  Making a donation to Sam's Star Walkers to support the JDRF (through this fundrasing page)

We would love to have you walk with us!  A donation is not required or expected.  We will meet in front of the MOA Best Buy Store around 7:30 am (3rd floor, West Side P4 Arizona parking).  We are designing TEAM SHIRTS for the kids, so please let us know soon if you can come, (shirt order is due by 2/8/13--or let us know if you want to wear your shirts from last year).  

We were so thankful for the awesome support for Sam's Star Walkers at the 2010, 2011 & 2012 Walks.  Please join us again and support Sam and all of those affected by Type 1.  We look forward to this special day when we will be SAM'S STAR WALKERS, on a mission to cure Type 1 diabetes!
