Welcome to Soccer Players vs. Diabetes Page!!

Jacob has been diagnosed since November 23,2009. This day has changed our lives forever. Jacob has had to grow up very quickly dealing with all of the details that goes into being a diabetic. It is never"Fun" or "Cool", but we can proudly say he handles it amazingly.Diabetes gives you so much to deal with-this includes being woken up several times a night to get tested when running high or his body waking him up when his blood sugars drop low(and he still has to go to school the next day). There are many medical issues he has had to be aware of and so much more than you would ever want your child to have to handle.

Jacob is gaining back his endurance in sports and is proud to be on the most competitive team in Minnesota. Go Minnesota Thunder Academy!! Development Academy has him traveling all over the midwest for soccer! His soccer team has won the State Cup tournament the last 3 years in a row. Soccer is still his love! Every goal he scores or assists in makes him feel successful and proud to be on such an outstanding team!

As parents,we would never wish this upon anyone. We hope that if you LOVE Jacob (and any other diabetics you know) you will kindly find it in your heart & in your wallet to donate to the JDRF Walk to find a cure. Every dollar counts, $5,$10,$20 or more...in the news lately you may have heard that research shows that a cure for diabetes could be found in the next 10 years. Wouldn't it be great to be able to say," I donated to my favorite soccer player & helped research find a cure!!".

For the second year in a row- MACY's will donate $1 for every pair of women's or men's shoes sold at MAll of America on February 23rd!! Wow!

Thank you in advance to all the players, friends, family, soccer family that are able to join us in the walk on Saturday, Feb 23rd at Mall of America!!

Yours Truly,

Kevin & Lisa

Hello! This year, we'll be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as we try to reach our goal of raising $89 million.

Type 1, or juvenile diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, a large and growing percentage of them children.

There is some good news, though. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure.

Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality!
