Hi! My name is Keaton Mabie, and on September 7, 2011, I was diagnosed with Type 1, or Juvenile, Diabetes.
Trust me, diabetes is LAME. I have to prick my fingers to check my blood sugar 6 to 8 times a day. And it HURTS! I also have to wear an insulin pump at all times. It has a long tube that inserts inside my skin with a needle. Every two days, I have to have the tube changed, and that means a long, painful needle. I can't drink regular soda or other fun drinks, and I have to get insulin for everything I eat. Sometimes, my blood sugars make me sick and I can't do gym or recess. I miss a lot of school, and it's hard to keep up. It is LAME!
But I know that someday soon there will be a cure for diabetes. So I am doing everything I can to help find that cure, by raising money for diabetes research.
On October 6, I will be walking in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)'s Walk for a Cure in Forest Park. All money raised will go directly to help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
Your donation today will help me in my cause. And that's awesome. Because, in case you haven't heard, DIABETES IS LAME!
