Life is about change, growth, laughter, friends and family. Those are the parts of life my mother embraced. This year life has brought change and growth. Sophia is almost 5 and Thalia recently turned 2. Sophia is completing her last year at her preschool and loving being one of the big kids. Thalia started taking ballet and is so proud to be like her big sister. So we find ourselves busy enjoying life, which also means we will walk again in St. Louis, still while missing our original walk site, Battery Park NYC.
Sophia, being ever sweet and a sensitive almost five year old continues to ask, "mommy, why can't we see your mommy like we see Daddy's mommy?" and "why do people get really sick?". I explained to Sophia that my mom was very sick and now can't be here, so Sophia is very excited to raise money for JDRF. Sophia said, "Oh are you signing us up for the walk to help sick people again? That's good because we should help people who need help." My mom would be proud.
I would love to raise lots of money to bring back my mom (which, last year, is what Sophia thought we were trying to do with the money raised) but of course we cannot, and even if we could she would still be suffering with the complication of diabetes diagnosed when she was 9 years old. But, we can raise money to help the countless children and adults suffering with JD so that they can live full lives and be with their friends and family. Why not even bet that we will find a cure (and soon)!
Please help our family team! Any amount will help and we are grateful!
Much love and thanks,
Wishing you good health and peace always,
