My name is tommy Loomis. You may know me and my family, or you may not. As you may know I live with type 1 diabetes (T1D). I would really love it if you will donate to my team, Tommy's Tigers, and join
me in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes on September 14, 2013 at Milwaukee County Zoo. Let me share with
you what my life is like living with T1D.
I am 8yrs old. From the moment I wake up in the moment, to the time I go to bed, and sometimes even during the night, I must control my Diabetes. I have to prick my finger up to 12 times everyday, watch what I eat(no candy, juice, among other things), as well as changing my insulin pump every 3 days or having multiple shots. I can do all the things other kids can do, however, I do them all while rrying to control my disease. Insulin shots keep me alive but it is no cure! THERE IS NO CURE!You cannot catch it from me nor does it make me any less of a child. Children with Diabetes know how to manage it on their own. What we want more than anything is just to be normal. Diabetes is what I have: it does not define who I am.
Friends, I encourage you to sign up, donate, and come walk with me this year. Bring your friends, too! Better
yet, bring 10 friends! We want every person on our team to raise at least $100. I know that the Walk will be a
great experience and I also know that YOU can make a difference. Please visit walk.jdrf.org and search for my
name to make a donation or join my team as a fundraiser and supporter today.
See you at the Walk!
