Dear Friends & Family:
It’s hard to believe that we are approaching the 6th annual team “Sweet Misa” JDRF walk. We do not know how to thank all of our friends and family for continuing to allow us to making this happen. Our family is so blessed to have all of you in our lives. It has been a long journey and we are so happy to have had the opportunity to share this with all of you. Marisa made it through Kindergarten and is a happy first grader now. We had a few hard experiences this year. In late January Marisa had the flu and we could not get her blood sugar down, we ended up in the Hospital for a few day. Then in April she got sick again and we could not get her blood sugar up, this was another trip to the Hospital. Each Hospital visit was a challenging time but we made it through.
Each year our team grows and continues to raise more money for this cause. In the past years our team has set a goal and successfully passed that goal. This year our goal is $5000.00 and to have as many walkers as we can. We are so honored and touched to have such great family and friends to help us not only meet but exceed our goals. Your time and generosity has put us one step closer to finding a cure for Marisa and we sincerely thank you all for being a part of this milestone. We would once again like to invite you to join our team for the 2012 walk to find a cure for Diabetes on Saturday November 2, 2013 at Tempe Town Lake. Registration starts at 7:30 am and the walk beginning at 9:00 am. I would like to challenge all of you to recruit at least one person to join our team this year. We would love to see a sea of Sweet Misa t-shirts in the crowd.
As you know, Marisa will never outgrow Type 1 Diabetes; the only solution is a cure. That’s why the JDRF has a single mission to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research as soon as possible. The JDRF is committed to delivering better treatments– and ultimately a cure – to people with type 1 diabetes. Over its
40 years, JDRF has funded $1.5 billion in diabetes research –more than any other charitable organization. It has become the largest charitable fund of and advocate for type 1 diabetes research, setting the agenda for diabetes research worldwide. In FY2010, JDRF funded more than $107 million in research in 19 countries worldwide, including more than 40 human clinical trials – the final stage of research before new therapies can reach the people who can benefit from them.
That’s where you come in. Please help Marisa and all the 18 million people with Diabetes by supporting “Sweet Misa” in the JDRF Walk for a Cure on November 2, 2013 at Tempe Town Lake. There are two ways you can help:
1. You can join Team Sweet Misa consisting of friends and family members who collect their own pledges and walk with us. You can register by going to www.walk.jdrf.org then select Arizona as your state. Click on Tempe Town Lake as the location. Click on Register for This walk!, Then choose join a team, search Sweet Misa as your team and choose family for the team type. Keep filling in the walker information.
2. You can send us a tax-deductible donation, made payable to JDRF or donate online at www.walk.jdrf.org Then select Arizona as your state. Click on Tempe Town Lake as the walk location. Then choose the Donate Now option. You will then be able to search by team or walker. Fill in the information needed.
We are very hopeful the JDRF will find a cure in Marisa’s life time. Won’t you please help Marisa and the many children this disease has affected?
Thank you for your love and support.
