Welcome to our JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes Team Alexis Page!
Hi ~ I am Alexis Preston (daughter of Brett and Laurie and sister of Kyle and Danielle) and I am contacting you to help support me in raising funds to cure diabetes!! I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in January 2010 at the age of 11 and ever since then, my family and I have been participating in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. I have been on the pump since 2011 and it has helped me to control my blood sugars by not having to get 4-6 shots a day :) It is the size of a phone and it is connected to a port that pumps the insulin into me when I need it. It is easier, but it is a pain because teachers always think it's a phone and tell me to put it away. However, I still have to prick my finger 4-6 times a day, but they have a product to insert into your arm to monitor your blood sugar continuously. I am not too interested in that since you have to wear it on your arm and it is bulky for little me. Every year, they have something new to help us diabetics and I hope someday I can be free of needles!!
Last year you helped me reach my goal of $500.00 (THANK YOU!!) and I am reaching out to you again this year. I hope that you will consider donating again this year. Every little bit counts.
All we need you to do is click on the "Join this Team" button and make a donation. It?s simple and fast. Or you can mail a check made payable to JDRF to me:
