Welcome to the Team PFC Matthew JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page!
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is the leader of the type 1 diabetes (T1D) community - unifying global efforts to cure, treat, and prevent T1D. JDRF is working to remove the impact of T1D from peoples lives until we achieve a world without T1D.
Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin - a hormone essential to the ability to get energy from food. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and changes life as they know it forever. It cannot be prevented and there is no cure. T1D is no longer the death sentence it was 100 years ago, but treatment methods are still inconsistent and very difficult to maintain, especially with a young child. Despite advances in treatments over the past 30 years, children with T1D are at daily risk of serious, sudden illness if diet, exercise, illness and insulin are not all kept in balance.
Matthew was diagnosed with T1D on October 6th, 2011 at Children's Medical Center in Dallas. We have been very fortunate with the level of care that Matthew has received and the tools at our disposal to maintain his health and quality of life. We've learned a lot together since that day, and life has never been the same since that day.
Matthew has learned to live a life of Perserverance, Faith and Courage at a very young age and he exhibits these traits everyday. He has faced his challenges like a trooper and we've no doubt that he will conquer diabetes. He and the rest of the T1D community need help...JDRF provides that help and is working to help every child in the T1D community live a better life.
On Saturday, September 28th at Victory Plaza in Dallas, we are taking part in this year's Walk to raise funds for the millions of people living with and affected by T1D. The money raised will help JDRF fund critical research to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people's lives until no one has to fear developing the disease.
Please JOIN OUR TEAM and walk with us in Dallas in September. If you can't walk with us, please donate to the cause - every little bit will help. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease.
Thank you for your support!
