Welcome to Chey's Cure Crew JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes team page!
In T1D, a person's pancreas stops producing insulin, which is essential to the body’s ability to get energy from food. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and is unrelated to diet or lifestyle. Managing T1D requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on insulin. With T1D there are no days off, and there is no cure.
Cheyenne was diagnosed with T1D on December 7th 2012. On that day we thought that Cheyenne's carefree childhood days were over as we had known. While that day did change many things for us, much still stayed the same. Cheyenne is still the outgoing girl she has always been and we strive hard to make sure that never changes for her. That is why over the course of the last 15 months Type 1 advocacy has become a a passion of our family. We strive for the day that Cheyenne can say, "I used to have Type One."
We're helping JDRF create a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D) where no one has to fear developing this serious autoimmune disease. By joining our Walk to Cure Diabetes team and/or making a donation to JDRF, you can be part of the effort to improve the lives of millions of people affected by T1D.
JDRF is the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D. Every donation, big or small, from donors like you, allows JDRF to fund the critical research needed to find a cure.
