Welcome to Andy's Army Team Page! On February 22nd, 2014, we will once again be participating in the JDRF Walk for a Cure at the Mall of America. We have found that the JDRF Walk is a fantastic way to make a difference in Andy's life and the millions of others affected by type 1 diabetes. JDRF's mission is to improve the lives of Type 1 diabetics and to find a cure through the support of research. The money our JDRF Walk Team raises will go directly to support this life-changing research. We continue to believe that by supporting the JDRF, we will help achieve Andy's goal of just being a "normal kid".
The walk is held inside the Mall of America from 8:30AM to 9:30AM, prior to the mall opening. For at least that one day, Andy is able to look around and see all the support he has from friends, family and the community. Walk Day is an opportunity for everyone to have fun and show Andy that we are with him in his hope for a cure.
This will be the 6th year that Andy's Army has participated in the walk. Each year, its is simply amazing to look out and see family, friends, teammates, classmates and neighbors all gathered together to find a cure for this disease that affects so many families like ours. If you haven't already, we'd love to invite you to join Andy's Army! You can either donate online, or join us at the Mall of America from 8:30 am to 9:30 am on Saturday, February 22nd. To make a team donation, click on one of the "Donate" buttons at the top of this page. To be a part of Andy's Army and to join us on the day of the walk, simply click the "Join this Team" button at the top of the page. We will provide further details about the walk after you sign up to join us!
We are off to an amazing start with our fundraising, thanks to the generosity of Joellyn Veninga, an Eden Prairie mom and friend of the family, who participated in an Iron Girl event and for the third year in a row tied all her fundraising to Andy's Army. We continue to be overwhelmed by the love and support Andy and our family receive in our efforts to find a cure for diabetes, and are inspired to continue in our efforts. Thank you.
We invite you to watch Andy's updated video about life with diabetes! We're not going to stop Believin'......in a better life for Andy, and all those impacted by this disease.
