March for Maggie

We will turn Type One into Type None

Welcome to our JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes March for Maggie Page!  We are taking the steps to help achieve the mission of JDRF: to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.  TO DO THIS, WE NEED YOUR HELP!

On November 14, 2013, Maggie was diagnosed with Type 1 (Juvenile) Diabetes. Since that day, it has been a whirlwind of finger pricks, shots, and doctors appointments.  We have learned about Type 1 diabetes and how to take care of Maggie but have so much more to learn. We poke her finger (blood sugar checks) 6-8 times per day to make sure his blood sugar isn't too high or too low.  She currently gives herself 4 shots a day.  Yes, I said she is giving the shots.  Brave little girl!  She will do this for the rest of her life until a cure is found.  Managing Type 1 diabetes is a challenge, but many promising therapies are emerging and we are hopeful for a cure soon.
This year, March for Maggie will be taking part in our first JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as we try to reach our goal of raising $100 million.
THERE ARE THREE MAIN PURPOSES for March for Maggie when it comes to the JDRF WALK TO CURE DIABETES:
1) PROVIDE SUPPORT, CARE AND LOVE FOR MAGGIE. 2) Raise awareness about Type 1 diabetes. 3) Raise money to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes.
