This cause is not only close tomy heart, it is my heart. My fiancé was diagnosed with Type1 Diabetes at ageeleven. He inherited it from his grandfather. We have chosen to continue thetradition that his family began when they learned of his diagnosis byparticipating in the Ron Santo JDRF 5K every year. He has definitely changedthe way I look at life and appreciate every single moment I am given. Thanks toorganizations like JDRF he is able to monitor his diabetes with an insulin pumpand we have been able to learn about more advances in medicine. The cause ofType1 remains unknown. Over time, Type1 diabetes can lead to vision loss, kidney damage, poor blood circulation and nerve damage. It can also lead toamputations and other complications. I hope for the day a cure is found andthat he will be able to grow old with me without any of the complicationscaused by Type1. I also hope for a cure so that no child would have to gothrough this battle. Type1 Diabetes has taught us important life lessons, like how to be brave, how to persevere, and how to appreciate life. Help usturn Type1 into Type NONE!
