This year marks my 24th year living with diabetes. I do not wish this disease on anyone for a day, much less 24 years. The impact diabetes has on a person, both physically and mentally, is exhausting. Just because I look fine, doesn't mean I am. It just means I am (sadly) used to my body never feeling great, and never, ever sleeping through the night, and dealing with the struggle my body goes through as it rollercoasters from high to low in minutes, and taking medication 24/7. Diabetes is not my friend. I HATE IT. And I hate that 50 children and 50 adults are being diagnosed with Type 1 every single day in the US.
I do whatever I can to help people impacted with Type 1 Diabetes. I have joined the board of directors of JDRF, I've written a book called Too Sweet: The Not-So-Serious Side to Diabetes, I volunteer in various diabetes outreach programs, I fundraise and I work as a Life Coach for those who need more support in their daily lives because of the twists and turns diabetes can bring. With T1D there are no days off, and there is no cure—yet your support can help change that.
Our team, Too Sweet, is walking to help JDRF continue to fund life-changing T1D research and create a world without T1D. T1D is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to turning food into energy. It strikes both children and adults and is unrelated to diet and lifestyle.
By donating or joining our team today, you can help fund research that impacts the lives of the millions of children, adults, and families challenged by T1D every day. With your support, we will help JDRF turn Type One into Type None. Thank you from the bottom of my sugary sweet heart.
Your donation will count towards the team's fundraising total. In addition, please give credit to the person that asked for your support to recognize them for their efforts in creating a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D).
