Helping to create a Type-NONE World!

Welcome to my personal Team JDRF to Cure Diabetes fundraising page!

As you probably know, my family is directly impacted by T1D.  My daughter, Haley, was diagnosed at age 13.  She is 18 now. Since her diagnosis, she has been through huge ups and downs.  And I'm not talking specifically about blood sugar highs and lows.  Although she tries to manage her diabetes, she is now also forced to manage severe depression and anxiety, and PTSD- all stemming from her Dx five years ago.

Additionally, my 16 year old cousin, Wyatt, is a T1D, too! He was diagnosed around age 5.  He, too, suffers from the day-to-day issues associated with T1D- but also the same things as Haley.  The odds of having TWO T1D's in one family are rare!

I have joined Team JDRF to raise funds for the millions of people living with and affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). The money I raise will help JDRF fund critical research to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people's lives until no one has to fear developing the disease.

Did you know that Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to the ability to get energy from food. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and changes life as they know it forever. It cannot be prevented and there is no cure.

JDRF is the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research and the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D. This science is complex and costly, and every dollar JDRF is able to direct toward research comes from donors like you.

Entering and completing this race is a challenge for me in many ways. First-  I am NOT A RUNNER.  it's a physical challenge for me. I'll spend the next 3.5 months training. It's also a mental challenge for me...many of you know my family struggles lately.  My husband suffered a stroke nearly a year ago and continues to recover. Being a T1D mom, a caregiver to my husband, and the usual Mom/Wife related stuff creates a challenging life- but it's absolutely nothing compared to what the special T1D's in my life endure. ALSO!  I am responsible for raising $500 before the event, so it's a monetary challege for me, too.  The money goes to research for my T1's and the T1D's in YOUR life. Your donation will make a difference for Haley and Wyatt- and for  millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease.

Thank you for your support!
