In the past six years, the way we treat Lydia's diabetes has advanced from syringe delivery of a minimum of 6 injections a day to the use of a tubeless Insulin Pump. The pump allows for tighter control of Lydia's blood sugar through the delivery of fractions of a unit of insulin. With the new insulin pump, administering insulin is much easier than finding a quiet spot to draw up a syringe. Lydia has taken interest in swimming, gymnastics, and school. The excitement and exercise of each activity warrants close scrutiny and extra finger pricks to ward off the dangers associated with lows. We still check Lydia 10-12 times a day, to include a couple times a night. In the six years since her diagnosis the fear and anxiety has retreated but not withdrawn. Education, experience, and the support and prayers of family and friends have in no small measure lifted my family during the day to day difficulties of our new regimen.
Over the past 6 years we have had the providence to come under the care of wonderful Doctors/Educators and the mentoring of local families immersed in the management of Diabetes. We are thankful for each and awaitur opportunity to assist families in need. In the interim, my wife Kristee is the Chairperson for the local JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. In this uncertain time, private efforts to fund Diabetes research are more important than ever. The advances that are being made today will cure Diabetes in Lydia's lifetime. A cure would mean new freedom and health for those who suffer quietly with the disease and relief for their loved ones.
Our goal for Team Lydia is $5000.00. We would love for you to consider making a donation for the "JDRF Walk for a Cure" for sweet, "Team Lydia". Any amount is welcome and greatly appreciated. Mostly, we would love for you to join "Team Lydia" and walk with us on Saturday, March 4, 2017.
We appreciate all the love, support and prayers for our family and especially Lydia.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, make your requests known to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:6,7
Your donation will count towards the team's fundraising total. In addition, please give credit to the person that asked for your support to recognize them for their efforts in creating a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D).
