On November 4, 2017Team Cut the BS will be coming together for the 5th year straight at the JDRF OneWalk at UNLV. Registration starts at 9am. We start walking at 10am!
A little about Type 1 Diabetes:
Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and changes life as they know it forever. It cannot be prevented and there is no cure.
A little about JDRF:
JDRF is the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D. Every dollar JDRF is able to direct toward research comes from donors like you.
A little about the team leader- Arlene M. Skinner - Cut the BS Girl.
I woke up in the hospital the morning of June 28, 2012, and my life as I knew it changed. I didn't know it yet, but I woke up that morning a Type 1 Diabetic. Since then, I've checked my blood sugar and taken insulin at least 4 times a day, count every carb I eat, and try to lead a life that best suits my new condition. That's when the term, "Cut the BS" was coined. With the help of my friends Susan and Cathy, I was able to give myself a motto that would center me when I had what Breakfast at Tiffany's Holly Golightly would call, "The mean reds." What I loved about it was that it helps me in all facets of my life...not just my Diabetes. For the last three years, I've been showered with love and support from my family and friends and now its time for me to give back to the community - I figured I'd start with the Diabetic Community.
