This year, I'll be taking part in JDRF's Ride to Cure Diabetes, along with hundreds of other riders across the country, as we try to reach our goal of raising as much money as possible to find a cure to Type 1 Diabetes. JDRF is an amazing foundation that I'm so proud to be apart of with this ride.
I first became passionate about everything JDRF does when I went to the Ride to Cure 3 years ago. Seeing the amount of spirit and strength all the riders have, with and without diabetes, amazed me and made me want to do everything I could to help.
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) strikes both children and adults at any age. It comes on suddenly, causes dependence on injected or pumped insulin for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications.
As the leader of the T1D community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat, and prevent T1D. In this role, JDRF has funded more than $1.6 billion in diabetes research since its founding in 1970, and has meaningfully advanced the T1D scientific frontier and the management of this disease.
We can help JDRF find a cure together. Anything you donate, even if it's just $1, will bring us closer to finding a cure to Type 1 Diabetes. I send my deepest gratitude and thanks to everyone.
So Little Time, So Many Miles
Wow, only two weeks till the ride in Burlington. It's been pretty tough with summer school and my job to fit in the miles, but I've been hopping on the trainer whenever possible and getting those miles in.
I want to give another thank you too everyone who's donated so far. You've really made an amazing difference in people's lives!
Until next time,
