2022 JDRF Death Valley Ride to Cure Diabetes

Let’s make T1D history!

Welcome to my JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes Page!

This year will be my 5th ride. I wanted to make it extra special so I am headed to Death Valley where the first JDRF ride was held. The best part about this is that i get to go with my wife (Jess) and brother-in-law(Cole Bruesehoff) and get to help celebrate their birthday (October 15th) by riding 100 miles for T1D research! The reason for pulling out all the stops is that Cole has T1D and Jess got me started with these rides. It’s only fitting to ride on their shared birthday to celebrate them! Cole got his family into the ride experience when he was 13, after getting his diagnosis. Jess then got me to sign up for a ride while we were dating. Every ride since has been an amazing experience and has reinforced the drive to continue to raise awareness and help people make new ways to cope with T1D, and hopefully soon, a cure!

Background on Type 1 Diabetes (T1D): Type 1 diabetes is a serious autoimmune disease that impacts millions of people and cannot be prevented or cured – yet. People with T1D stop producing insulin–a hormone essential to turning food into energy. Managing the disease is a constant struggle that involves monitoring your blood-sugar level, administering insulin, and carefully balancing these insulin doses with eating and activity. Even with a strict regimen, people with T1D may still experience dangerously high or low blood-glucose levels that can, in extreme cases, be life threatening.

JDRF is leading the fight against T1D by funding research, advocating for policies that accelerate access to new therapies, and providing a support network for millions of people around the world impacted by T1D. But they can’t do it without our support.

I’ve set my fundraising goal high and am counting on your help to get me there by Ride Day. No donation is too small and every dollar truly makes a difference.

Through advocacy and research leadership, JDRF influences and attracts others to support funding for T1D research. For every dollar that JDRF puts towards research, JDRF draws in an additional $3.50! By donating to my JDRF Ride, you’re supporting life-changing research that helps people with T1D live healthier and longer, until cures are found.

Thank you for your support!
