NFL Miami Dolphin’s Blake Ferguson Plays Hard in the Fight Against T1D
Diagnosed at the age of 13, Blake Ferguson has never allowed type 1 diabetes (T1D) to interfere with his goals and dreams. Ranked the No. 1 long-snapper in the nation for both his junior and senior high school seasons, he committed to the Louisiana State University (LSU). During his time with the Tigers, he was named team captain for his junior and senior seasons, which was the first time a long snapper had been named captain at LSU, including the 2019 National Championship season.
Blake was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the 2019 NFL Draft and is currently in his third season with the team. During his rookie season, he played an integral role in Jason Sanders setting the franchise record for field goal percentage in a single season. His older brother, Reid Ferguson, is also a long snapper for the Buffalo Bills.
Blake is an advocate and champion for the T1D community. From donning custom-designed cleats on the field during the NFL “My Cause, My Cleats” campaign, to advocating on Capitol Hill and mentoring youth – Blake is committed to bringing greater awareness to T1D, inspiring the community, and raising critical funds for T1D research to bring life-saving treatments and technology, and a cure.
“Please join me in the fight against T1D. Your support will have a huge impact on the lives of 1.6 million people living with T1D. Thank you for your generosity and commitment.” – Blake Ferguson
