We are fundraising for JDRF because we believe in their vision of a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D).
With T1D, a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to turning food into energy. The daily life of someone with T1D brings a multitude of challenges, including insulin injections that need to be carefully balanced with eating and activity, disruptive glucose monitoring, sleepless nights—and wishing for a tomorrow where this struggle doesn’t exist.
Living with T1D means there are no days off and there is no cure. But there is hope.
Your generosity will help JDRF fund life-changing breakthroughs to remove the incredible daily burden of this disease—until it no longer exists.
JDRF is near and dear to the hearts of 5th Graders at SCES. Two years ago, a classmate of theirs was diagnosed with T1D. They see him living with it at school each day, and they are very excited to help fund research that could make his day-to-day life easier, safer, and healthier. In addition, Dr. Burke’s son has T1D, and she has been very involved as a volunteer with JDRF over the years.
Please support our 5th Grade Service Project by making a donation today and/or supporting our fundraisers throughout the school year.
