Let's Create a World Without T1D for Lexi
Lexi DeYoung passed away Monday, July 3rd. Her life was taken by a T1D episode in the middle of the night.
Lexi was a beloved member of both the T1D and health and wellness communities. She shared her passion for helping create a world without T1D as a Children's Congress delegate in 2007 and during National Diabetes Awareness Month in 2021.
Lexi had been living her best life in Austin, near her siblings, Cole & Tucker. She was 29, buoyant and beautiful, inside and out. She was all about fitness, healthy living and helping others. She made a profound impact on countless people as a women’s health coach and was CEO of Alignment Athletics, the brand she co-founded with Melissa Ebling that was focused on helping women look and feel their best, find balance and live with confidence through health, fitness and personal development. Like a shooting star, her time was too short, but oh so brilliant.
With T1D, a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to turning food into energy. The daily life of someone with T1D brings a multitude of challenges, including insulin injections that need to be carefully balanced with eating and activity, disruptive glucose monitoring, sleepless nights—and wishing for a tomorrow where this struggle doesn’t exist.
Your generosity will help JDRF fund life-changing breakthroughs to remove the incredible daily burden of this disease—until it no longer exists.
Please help us find a cure for this horrific disease that even the great ones can't control. Your gift will honor Lexi's memory and ensure her inspiring influence and love continue to grow.
