It's an incurable autoimmune condition in which the body's own immune system destroys insulin-producing islet cells in the pancreas. Without life-giving insulin, patients die within a few weeks.
Living with T1D means there are no days off and there is no cure. But there is hope.
Until then, please help JDRF fund critical research, education, advocacy, and education about the disease.
The more patients know about this disease, the better people living with it can cope. The more friends, spouses, providers, coworkers, first responders and policymakers know about it, the less mistreatment and discrimination we'll experience.
That's why I'm running across Iowa in 2018, Texas in 2019, and the continental US in 2020. I want the world to know that 1.5 million of us are not just sitting on the couch, but out there living healthy, physically active lives -- sometimes way more so than others. And we still need that cure.
Your generosity will help JDRF fund life-changing breakthroughs to remove the incredible daily burden of this disease—until it no longer exists.
