Let's Make T1D History!

My name is Emeka, and while I'm not a Diabetic myself, my brother is. He's the person standing next to my wife and me in my profile picture on my wedding day. He's the reason JDRF is so important to me. He's the one I want a cure for yesterday. He's the reason I ride!

JaMoore has been a Diabetic since he was 9, and I've seen firsthand how Type 1 diabetes affects people. My brother is 10 years older than me, at 36. He needs two new kidneys and a new pancreas. He must attend Dialysis 3x a week and has no other options until he gets his new organs! I mention this to show you just how strong diabetics are. Can you imagine waking up at the crack of dawn 3x a week for Dialysis that leaves you tired all day, and then turning around and going to work? That's a lot, and it takes someone with tremendous strength.

I joined JDRF to find a way so my brother doesn’t have to be so strong on a daily basis and to find a cure.

If you've read this far, I appreciate you taking the time to hear what I have to say. It would mean the world to me if you donated to help the families impacted by this disease. I understand that times can be tough, and if that's the case for you, I would appreciate it if you could simply tell one other person about this, because you never know the ways in which you can impact someone! Regardless, I appreciate you for giving me the most valuable thing you can offer: your attention.

Type 1 diabetes is a serious autoimmune disease that impacts millions of people - its causes are not fully known, and currently, there is no cure. To manage their T1D, people regularly monitor their blood-sugar level, inject or infuse insulin through a pump, and carefully balance those doses with eating and daily activities to prevent uncomfortable, and even dangerous, side effects. Every single day.

JDRF is leading the fight against T1D by funding research, advocating for policies that accelerate access to new therapies, and providing a support network for millions of people around the world impacted by T1D. But they can’t do it without our support.

I’ve set my fundraising goal high and am counting on your help to get me there by Ride Day. No donation is too small and every dollar truly makes a difference.

Thank you for your support!
